Project Overview
We are seeking an expert YouTube Packaging Specialist for a contract engagement. This project is focused on the single most crucial part of a video's success: getting the click. As an external expert, you will be responsible for ideating compelling titles and developing powerful visual concepts for our thumbnails.
This engagement involves close, regular collaboration with our Graphic Designer, where you will provide the creative concepts and data-driven insights, and they will execute the visual design.
Scope of Work & Deliverables
- Ideate on up to 12 videos per week (around 3-4 podcast shows)
- This includes titles and visual direction for each thumbnail
- Each episode has 3-4 thumbnail variations for testing
- Title Ideation: Deliver a slate of compelling, high-curiosity title options for each video assignment.
- Thumbnail Conceptualization: Produce clear, data-informed thumbnail concepts (e.g., creative briefs) that outline the story, emotion, key visual elements, and text required for the designer.
- Design Collaboration: Serve as the primary creative partner to our Graphic Designer, providing detailed briefs and clear, iterative feedback to guide the design process from concept to final asset.
- Performance Analysis: Provide regular performance analysis of CTR and Audience-Per-Click using YouTube Studio data. The deliverable includes insights on why packages performed as they did and data-driven recommendations for future concepts.
- Trend & Competitor Research: Stay current on packaging trends within our niche, providing regular insights on competitor strategies and successful formats.
- Brand & Promise Alignment: Ensure all proposed packaging concepts align with the video's content and the "promise" made to the viewer, collaborating with other team members (like the Hook Specialist) as needed.
Required Expertise & Qualifications
- A strong portfolio with a proven track record of crafting high-CTR titles and thumbnail concepts that drive channel growth.
- Experience with Adobe suite.
- Ability to sketch ideas clearly and artfully.
- Exceptional, world-class copywriting and headline-writing skills.
- A deep and practical understanding of YouTube audience psychology, storytelling, and what drives a viewer's decision-making.
- Proven experience in a highly collaborative creative role, with a strong ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to design partners.
